Registered in Spain as The Evangelical Christian Fellowship, we are a cosmopolitan church in Calahonda. Our commission from the Lord is to preach the Word and share the love of God. Our praise and worship is a combination of modern and older songs but our desire always is to honour God and give Him praise.
Over the years our church has become an oasis for those who are hurting, lost and confused. God seems to provide a place of healing, restoration and refreshing to all who come into the Fellowship. We believe that when a believer is strengthened in faith he or she will be more effective as a witness for Christ in the world. Many different nationalities meet together to encourage each other as well as reach out to the world around us. We have people joining us from all denominations as well as some who are completely unchurched and yet we all desire to worship God together and draw closer to Him. Visitors are always welcome and we love to meet new friends. You will never be ignored when you visit us !
We meet in a modern church building in Calahonda which has a very large English speaking population. Our Sunday services provide an opportunity for believers from many different backgrounds to meet together to worship God and encourage each other. We enjoy lively praise and worship and there is a strong emphasis on the preaching of the Word of God. During the week we meet in home groups in Fuengirola (Los Boliches), Mijas and Calahonda for prayer and fellowship and we have started a Bible School one night a week to teach God’s Word in a disciplined environment.
Every member is encouraged to be a witness for the Lord by reaching out to others with God’s love and friendship. The home groups provide an opportunity to bring friends into a warm and friendly atmosphere. From time to time we present a special music production in the church to encourage members of the community to attend.
Our mission statement is that we should provide an oasis where the Word of God is preached and the love of God is shared. We believe that people will be set free when the truth of God’s Word is preached so they can live a more effective life as a Christian and that those who do not know Christ would be drawn to Him through the love of God.
We believe that the church should be encouraged to pray for missionaries as well as giving practical and financial support. Our Missions Page gives details of some of the ministries which we support regularly.
Peter and Annette Riggall were married in 1970 in South Africa. They have two children, a married daughter living in New Zealand, and a son.
They both gave their lives to Christ in September 1979 and immediately began to serve as voluntary workers in a rapidly growing church. Sensing a call of God on their lives they attended Bible School and graduated in 1981, being ordained into ministry by the International Federation of Christian Churches in South Africa in 1984. Peter served as a Pastor and Administrator in a very large ministry in Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as teaching in the Bible School for many years. He has earned a BA degree with ICI University. Annette worked in ministry helping to oversee home groups for several hundred women as well as arranging Ladies Events in the church. In 2002 they moved to Spain and took over leadership of The Calahonda Church - formerly known as Fuengirola Evangelical Fellowship. They have a passion to preach and teach the Word of God following the command of Jesus to Peter the Apostle to feed and tend His sheep.
